I may be on a Drug Bust but I can Still Kick Your Ass on Wii – LAKELAND, FLORIDA –  With the American court system overrun with drug cases, it’s no wonder that some big time players slip through the cracks  with the help of a shrewd lawyer.   Hell, if your busted and have the cheese to spread, may as well get the best representation money can buy.   What it really comes down to is this:  bribe a witness, off witness, or pray for a technicality.  Though the first two on the list are pretty tricky, getting off on a tech plea could be some simple like a bogus search warrant, a violation of legal probable cause, or even good old fashioned police tampering.  On the other hand, there’s no way in hell a bust by video gaming narcs who loafed on the job is going to set a weed dealer free, or will it?

A surveillance video taken in Tampa, Florida captured several police officers playing a Nintendo Wii bowling game during a drug bust.  It wasn’t a casual game for fun either.  They were giving each other hi-5s and one was furiously jumping up and down in celebration saying “show me the money Sarge.”   Officials say some of the officers could be disciplined but it is highly doubtful since no laws were broken.  Narcs with the anti-drug task force  decided to have some fun and kicked in the door of a  convicted drug dealer for the hell of it (since he was already in custody), then decided to play with the Wii.  One sheriff’s detective can be seen taking several breaks from cataloging evidence so she can bowl frames while another is toking on a jay found in an ashtray. The officers did not know a video camera had been set up in the house before the March raid but it really doesn’t matter anyway and they really don’t care.  There is no way in hell the perp will get off on a technicality for a police officer playing a video game during a search of a house, particulary when bail had not been set.  The fact of the matter is that cops can do whatever they like when they tear up your house, even if it’s on video.  But, technically they can’t stop the tape being used in court which means the owner of the house gets out on a technicality, and the cops end up getting fired. It’s a small price to pay for the American justice system, and free enterprise on the black market.
