Cheech N Chong Pass the Peace Pipe- After 25 years of feuding, America’s two favorite potheads are still smoking.  Cheech and Chong, the original creators of drug induced comedy, say they’re eager to get back on the road for their first comedy tour in more than 25 years.We had such a legacy, such a history. We couldn’t escape it, even if we tried,” Tommy Chong told reporters at a news conference Wednesday at the Troubadour, the Los Angeles nightclub where the pair were discovered more than 35 years ago (Entertainment: Cheech N Chong Pass the Peace Pipe).  The duo said their “Light Up America” tour will kick off Sept. 12 in Philadelphia.   It’s going to be very theatrical,” said Cheech Marin.  Marin and Chong, who broke up amid creative differences, have tried to reunite before, but have always fought too much.  During their original run, Marin and Chong released nine comedy albums between 1972 and 1985, were nominated for four Grammy Awards and won one.  They also starred in eight feature films, almost always portraying a pair of comical stoners, and most of America loves them because most of America smokes pot.  It’s a well-known fact that one has to be under the influence of reefer to understand the madness behind the Chech and Chong movies.  They’re trippy and are damned near borderline goofy, but they epitomize the red-eyed counter culture of the 1970s and 80s and have become one of the unforgettable icons of that era.  Just about every pot-smoking college kid in America has a copy of a Cheech and Chong movie sitting right next to a box of porn, and somewhere a group of stoners are enjoying a bong hit and few laughts watching one right now.   It’s good to know that after all these years Cheech and Chong are still smoking, and so is most of America.
